I have over thirty years’ experience in working within the music industry as an open format DJ. The company was started after I had an accident which led to surgery and left me with nerve damage, thus making me partially disabled with chronic pain.
Whilst not being able to carry out my passion of being a DJ, I decided to turn my negative energy (pain) into something positive – this was the birth of Transparent Reflection Ltd.
Growing up in Brixton, he was immersed in Reggae music, in the market, record shops and at home.
In 1989 he formed Rough But Sweet Sound System and has entertained the likes of Gentleman, Pow Pow, and performed internationally.
Located in Jamaica, and with over forty years in the industry, he is also a singer and producer.
He began his career in the late ‘70s.
Mistri’s popularity grew through the eighties and nineties to establish him as a firm pioneer for the Rare Groove Movement. Mistri toured Europe and Jamaica with Saxon Sound System with his selection of Soul, Reggae, Soca, Dancehall and R&B.
Mr Rocksteady fell in love with music from a tender age of 9, the first song he owned was a Studio One. At the age of 11 he was buying music with nothing to play them on, when he turned 13 his mum brought a gram – from then till now he hasn’t stopped.
In 1976 he built his first Sound System ‘Observer Sound’ with his friend Basil Gayle known as Baz who has tragically passed away. Mr Rocksteady spent two years working with Dennis Bovell in the studio learning the ropes.
In the early 80’s he produced a few songs with Dennis Rowe from Saxon and worked with Roger Robin. It was at this time when he began to collect Studio One until eventually, he was getting the music straight from the man himself ‘Clement Dodd’ and sparing with George Price (Peckings).
